1. 我为什么要学习这门课？

自中国首先提出“一带一路”倡议之后，我国对通晓国际交往规则、并能用英语讲好中国故事的复合型外交外事人才的需求大大增加。培养这类人才需要在通用英语教学基础上，进行外交外事、国际关系等专业英语能力的培养和训练。但目前国内尚未出现理论联系实际的外交外事英语课程。《英语政论》课程的推出将有利于高端人才（如国际组织与全球治理人才）培养，而且对高端人才选拔亦有参考借鉴作用。

2. 这门课的主要内容是什么？

《英语政论》是专门用途英语课，旨在提升学员的英语综合能力，尤其是高级读写能力。此外，该课程还会向学员介绍国际事务要点问题以拓宽视野。教学将采用语言知识与专业知识相结合的方法。课程结束后，学生能够提升国际事务分析能力和思辨能力，英语语言综合运用能力也会有显著提升。

课程共计8个单元，每单元5-6讲。内容覆盖国际政治、国际关系理论和基本概念以及中美关系。

3. 这门课程有何特色和亮点？

将英语学习置于国际事务话题之中。课程以国际事务中的经典论著作为学习材料，旨在让学生了解该领域的基本知识。同时，结合英语专业八级词汇表对国际政治、国际关系和外交学学科中的词汇进行了梳理，使学生在增加相关专业知识的同时提升英语能力。

将思辨能力提升置于英语学习之中。各单元讲解中，均设有思辨能力提升训练的“讨论” （Discussion）环节，给学生提供思辨训练素材和英语表达机会。

将英语学习重点置于地道表达之中。各单元重点在于高级词汇和表达方式的使用，具体包括近义词辨析、复杂句式分析和英汉互译。由于所选篇目均为国际事务类正式文体，所以学生有机会接触到该专业地道的英文表达方式。
