This course is intended for students who have acquired the basic competency in English communication and who are in the process of learning to apply what they have learned in the general English courses to their academic studies and research in the university or in the work place. The course focuses on the training of students' ESP reading skills that are often used in college students' subject studies or research.

The course consists of a series of lessons that introduce various academic reading strategies, plus exercises that provide an opportunity for students to apply what they have learned to real practice.

EST Reading is classified as a course for junior grade English-majored students, which is an extention of previous reading courses. As a course oriented to cultivating reading skills, the instructor tries to exapnd the vocabulary as well as knowledge of the students by reading and analyzing articles related to science and technology. The focus is on training the analysis, understanding, logic and independent thinking of the students. The goal of this course is to enhance the linguage competence of the Englished majored students.

成绩合格要求：

1. 完成视频课程及附带练习；
   

2. 完成阅读作业；

3. 参加期中期末笔试，成绩合格。

学习起点：

修读本课程的学生起点英语能力应达到大学英语四级一般要求水平。
