This course, lectured solely in English, is applicable to the very beginners in Chinese learning and those who are keen on teaching Chinese as a second language.The course is composed of four correlated sections: the Spoken Chinese, the Chinese Phonetics and Grammar, the Interesting Chinese Characters, and the Chinese Culture Chats. By studying this course, the learners may expect to master around 150 most frequently used words and expressions, and to conduct daily conversations around the topics like greeting and introduction, family and nationality, interests and hobbies, date and time, locations and transportation, food and health, etc., and acquire some preliminary knowledge of the Chinese characters and the contemporary Chinese culture.

本课程适用于零起点汉语学习者，全英文授课。也适用于对汉语教学感兴趣的人，为致力于汉语教学的教师和学习者提供教学参考和教学资源。课程包括相互关联的四大部分：日常会话、语音语法、有趣的汉字、文化闲谈。学完本课程，学生可以掌握约150个常用词汇，能够用汉语问候，进行姓名、国籍、爱好以及时间日期和住址等话题的交谈，对汉字知识和当代中国的文化有初步了解。

本课程为零起点汉语学习者讲授汉语日常会话、语音语法、有趣的汉字、文化闲谈。学完本课程，学生可以掌握约150个常用词汇，能够用汉语问候，进行姓名、国籍、爱好以及时间日期和住址等话题的交谈，对汉字知识和当代中国的文化有初步了解。

本课程也同时为致力于汉语教学的教师和学习者提供教学参考和教学资源。

为了对学习者的在线学习过程更加严谨负责，保证平台证书权威性，从2019年9月份开始，中国大学MOOC将不再发放免费证书，原有认证证书的申请方式和流程不变。

按百分制计分，60分至80分为合格、80分以上至100分为优秀。 评分规则如下：

1、完成每个单元中的练习题，每题1分。共90分

      日常会话共36题

      语音语法共30题

      文化闲谈共12题

      有趣的汉字12题

2、参与课程讨论与互动，至少两次，每次5分，共10分。
