Nature of the Course:
"Structural Mechanics I" is a professional compulsory course in the undergraduate courses of civil engineering undergraduate major in university. It mainly teaches the internal force and deformation of bars structure under the action of external forces and other external factors, the strength and stiffness of the structure, and the composition law of the structure.
1. Master the basic composition law of the plane geometry invariant system and its application.
2. Master the internal force diagram drawing method of the beam and rigid frame, the calculation method of the internal force of the truss and the arch.
3. Understand the content and application of the principle of virtual work of deformational body, master the calculation method of static structural displacement.
4. Understand the concept and application of the influence lines, master the static method for drawing the influence lines for the static influence beam, and understand the Müller–Breslau principle.
5. Master the basic principle of the flexibility method and use the flexibility method to calculate the internal force of indeterminate structures under various external factors.
6. Master the basic principle of indeterminate Beams and frames by the slope-deflection method and its application for indeterminate structures analysis.
7. Master the concept of moment distribution method, and calculate the continuous beam and the no sway frame by moment distribution method.
Grading scale will be on a 100 point scale and will consist of the following:
(1) Daily performance (20%): Including homework (50%), attendance (30%), asking questions in class (20%).
(2) Experimental results (10%): The performance of 3 experiments in the course.
(3) Final Exam (70%): Closed written examination form, cover all topics of Structural Mechanics I.
