课程概述
"Mechanics is the physical science which deals with the forces on object. No other subject plays a greater role in engineering analysis than mechanics. Although the principles of mechanics are few, they have wide applications in real world, especially in mechanical engineering, and that why it is being called as Mechanics. The principles of mechanics are central to research and development in the fields of vibrations, stability and strength of structures and machines, robotics, rocket and spacecraft design, automatic control, engine performance, fluid flow, electrical machines and apparatus, and molecular, atomic, and sub-atomic behavior. A thorough understanding of this subject is an essential prerequisite for work in these and many other fields. "
--adopted from Engineering Mechanics - Statics by J.L. Meriam & L.G. Kraige
The above statements are well described the importance as well as usefulness of mechanics. This specific course is about the very fundamental part statics and strength of materials. In statics part, it entails principles of statics, concurrent and couple force systems, co-planar general force system, engineering truss structure, simple space force system and friction. In strength of materials part, it entails the studies on simple structure’s tension, shear, torsion and bending. This course will enable you to understand the basic rationales of engineering mechanics and it is the first step for you to enter the world of engineering studies.
