Course Introduction
This course reviews the basic knowledge of solid state physics and semiconductor devices such as PN junction, followed by the theory and application of various optoelectronic devices such as photodetectors, solar cells, lasers and LEDs, optical amplifier and modulator etc. This class will also discuss recent advancements in optoelectronics, such as novel two-dimensional materials related research and the application of flexible optoelectronics in biomedical and energy fields. The students are expected to understand the theory and operation of different optoelectronic devices and be able to apply these device knowledges in their industrial and research work.
