Physical chemistry bilingual course is a basic theoretic and compulsory course designed for students who studying chemistry in the international class from College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering in Zhengzhou University, and also useful for students majored in applied chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, medicine, environmental engineering and other professional subjects. And this course is usually taught in the fourth and fifth semesters for undergraduate students. “Physical Chemistry” course mainly covers chemical thermodynamics, chemical equilibrium, simple mixtures, phase equilibrium, statistical thermodynamics, kinetics, electrochemistry, Interface & Colloid, and so on. Besides knowledge, problem-solving skills, logic thinking, innovative capability and cross-cultural communication are also strongly appreciated for them to be complex, all-round international talents.
The main objectives of the course are the following:
- to introduce students into the field of physical chemistry;
- to show the intrinsic logic and coherence of this course;
- to help students to generally understand and master the basic theories and principles of physical chemistry and learn the ways to analyze and solve problems shown in the course;
- to help to deal with problems from chemical industry or daily life with basic theories they learned.
- to prepare students for further reading of original English textbooks and reference publications on physical chemistry, and establish an academic vocabulary for future communications and publications.
