《世界英语概览》课程旨在系统介绍当今世界上主要的英语变体，引导学生分析和把握各国各地英语的语言和社会文化特征，特别是“中国英语”的特点，增强学生的跨文化交流能力。

本课程将帮助学生建立一个全新的英语视角，认识到英语已经发展成为“国际通用语”，并且世界上产生出了诸多带有地域色彩的英语变体，具有各自典型特征和功能，在各国各地的对内和对外交际中发挥着重要的作用。本课程的开设顺应我国“一带一路”建设倡议，所选择的英语变体很多来自“一带一路”沿线国家（如印度、新加坡、日本等），了解这些国家的人讲英语的特点以及他们的文化背景将有助于我们更好地开展交流与工作。

本课程的教学目标是帮助学生：

（1）熟悉英语的发展史，理解英语作为“国际通用语”的作用； 

（2）掌握世界上现有主要英语类型的语言和社会文化特征；

（3）了解各种“新型英语”和“外语型英语”，特别是“中国英语”的显著特征，并且能够认识其所依托的社会、文化、教育、政治等功能；

（4）具备独立分析各国英语的语音、词汇、语法、文化等特点的能力。

A : 本课程采用全英文授课，配有英文字幕。授课教师尽量采用通俗易懂的英文表达讲授课程。
