Animal Nutrition is one of the main courses of basic theory of animal science. It is an important course to introduce the basic theory of animal nutrition, basic research methods and nutrition requirements of domestic animals. Animal nutrition is a basic science that provides systematic theoretical and technical guidance for animal health, efficiency, safety and quality production based on the knowledge of animal physiology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry and biostatistics. It has played a major role in promoting human prosperity, health and quality of life.

This course is aimed to systematically teaching the basic principles, methods, animal nutrition requirements and related knowledge of animal nutrition, so that learners can acquire the basic theories, basic knowledge and basic skills necessary for the production and scientific research of animal nutrition, and lay a solid foundation for further study of other courses in animal science. This course is not only a basic tool for students to study animal nutrition systematically and deeply, but also a necessary tool for animal husbandry practitioners and nutrition enthusiasts to learn animal nutrition knowledge efficiently and comprehensively.

(1) Theory: mastering the basic knowledge of animal nutrition, including the process of animal essential nutrients digestion, absorption and metabolism, the principle of animal nutrition requirement, research methods, factors affecting nutritional requirements and nutrient utilization efficiency and their solutions, and laying a theoretical foundation for the research and application of animal nutrition and related research.

 (2) Skills: develop the ability of systemic thinking, integrate theory with practice, be familiar with animal nutrition research methods, and lay the foundation of methodology and practical skills for animal nutrition and related research and application.

Learners should have basic knowledge of biochemistry and animal physiology.
