《走进旅游业》是为旅游管理专业大一学生开设的全英文授课的专业基础课，因为无需前期专业知识，所以对旅游业感兴趣的其他专业的中外籍学生也可以修读。旨在让学生对旅游业的结构和主要分支产业（包括景区、住宿、交通、节事、中间商、公共服务等）建立初步认识，掌握旅游学的基本理论，了解旅游业的发展现状与趋势，理解旅游业各分支行业的特征及其对专业人才的要求。

      课程除了常规讲座外，本课程还设有“Insider's view”，邀请行业专家，介绍其所在旅游行业的发展趋势、面临的挑战、本单位的业务和行业对人才的要求，目的在于帮助学生了解行业未来发展方向，为个人发展做好规划。部分章节设有“Virtual site visit”,带领大家在线参观旅游企业，让大家更为直观的认识旅游企业的设施和服务。

• Participation (40%): including assignments and online tests.
  

• Report (60%): Choose one of the sectors in the tourism industry (accommodation, transportation, attraction, intermediaries, event, or the public sector), identify three major trends of development in this sector and provide relevant examples. Discuss the implications for people wishing to work in that sector in view of these trends. 

  Report format requirement: 1500 words (10% flexibility), excluding references; Aril 12; 1.5 line spacing; Harvard referencing style

  Marking criteria: Content (60%); structure and layout (15%); presentation, style and language(10%); use of sources and referencing(15%).
