Now, wireless communication has been one of the fastest growing branches in the communication industry. The current wireless communication has widely penetrated into all aspects of people’s work and life. This online course introduces in detail the basic concepts of wireless communication (such as wireless fading channel, Gaussian white noise, channel capacity, etc.), basic principles (modulation and demodulation, channel coding, etc.), key technologies (such as Viterbi decoding), and systems design methods (such as link budget).
The course is closely integrated with the development of the current wireless communication industry, and introduces the latest research results and research trends in the development of wireless communication (such as 4G and 5G key technologies). This online course can not only be watched and studied by senior undergraduates majoring in communication and electronic information, but also can be selectively used for college and higher vocational school students, and it can also be used as a reference for communication engineering personnel. Through this course, you will not only be able to master the basic theories and key technologies of wireless communication, but also understand the design and implementation of wireless communication systems, which will lay a solid foundation for future work such as research on wireless communication theories and key technologies, wireless communication system design, product development, and network deployment and maintenance.
The "Fundamentals of Wireless Communication" course is an important professional course for electronic information majors, and a required course for communication and information systems majors. Through this course, you can establish the overall concept of wireless communication systems, have a more comprehensive understanding of the development direction and challenges of wireless communication, understand the basic concepts of wireless communication (such as fading, noise, channel capacity, etc.), and master the basic theories of wireless communication (modulation and demodulation theory, channel coding theory, detection theory) and important algorithms (such as Viterbi algorithm), especially It is the core technologies in the current 4G and 5G mobile systems, such as LDPC coding technology, and can be familiar with the design principles and common methods of wireless communication systems. Learning through this course will lay a solid foundation for students to engage in wireless communication research, wireless communication system design, technology research and development, network deployment and maintenance in the future.

1. Is there any experiment in this course?
Answer: "Basics of Wireless Communication" has two online experiments, which are 5G radio wave propagation experiment and 5G wireless channel experiment. The two experiments will be released after the end of unit 4. Students can do it online. Experimental results are not included in the total course grade.
2. I have taken the course "Communication Principles" before, is it necessary to study the course "Fundamentals of Wireless Communication"?
Answer: "Communication Principles" is a very important professional basic course and one of the important prerequisite courses of "Fundamentals of Wireless Communication".
"Fundamentals of Wireless Communication" aims at wireless communication, especially cellular mobile communication systems (including 3G, 4G and 5G). This course analyzes characteristics of radio propagation and wireless channels, and studies the key technologies in wireless communication systems, including modulation and demodulation, channel coding. This course is of great help to further research in the field of wireless communication and to work for mobile communication operators and equipment vendors.
