About this course

Mechanics is the science concerning force, motion and deformation. It studies the macroscopic and microscopic mechanical behaviors of complex matters in nature and engineering, reveals the rules underlying mechanical movements and their relations with physica, chemistry, biology, etc. Mechanics is one of the most significant components for human's knowledge. This course is a general education course for low-grade undergraduate students, aiming to provide an introductory education, value and methodology of engineering to students for their communications across different groups. During this course, the instructors will introduce the fundamental concepts and fields of mechanics, clarify the critical role of mechanics in the developing of modern society, discuss the frontiers of mechanics such as biomedicine, flexible electronics, robotics, energy, aeronautics and astronautics, etc., enlarge the knowledge and inspire the innovation of students, and strengthen the ability and quality of them in analyzing and solving problems.
