一、课程的地位与作用

二、课程的教学目标与基本要求
本课程的教学目标是通过教学，使学生懂得入门不等于已经成为合格英语专门人才，激发他们学习热情。要加强学生阅读理解能力。大力增强学生分析欣赏能力。帮助学生学会使用各种高级工具书以及其他手段收集资料，解决问题。适当配合写作课和翻译课，指导学生的写作和翻译。
基本要求:
1. 按时完成课内外作业，即书本上的练习和课外翻译练习等；
2. 熟练掌握课本上的语言点，举一反三。
3. 适当增加阅读和口语训练，课堂予以检查，使该课程具有综合训练性质。
