本课程注重培养学生使用英语进行学术写作的实际能力，特别是引导学生掌握使用英语撰写摘要、引言、材料和方法、讨论、结论等诸要素；强调学以致用，突出与学术论文写作相关的技巧和要求，强化学术写作的实用方法，从而在一定程度上为学生发表学术论文提供帮助。
本学期第一阶段的课程主体包括视频教学、学术阅读和写作练习。视频教学部分的主要内容为通用和学术英语写作知识与技巧的介绍。主要包括一般性写作技巧，通用学术英语写作技巧，学术英语写作规范等。学术阅读部分包括一至两篇与视频教学内容相关的短文或研究论文，帮助学生应用或巩固视频教学内容。学术英语写作练习部分主要结合特定知识、技能、主题进行写作训练。第二阶段的课程主体增加面授环节，强化、巩固各部分知识点。
成绩评定方法：
（1）基于课程视频和阅读材料的作业（30%）；
（2）单元写作练习（40%）；
（3）期末考核（30%）。
