《英语语言学概论》是一门英语语言文学专业的基础理论课，主要内容涵盖现代语言学发展简介，各个主要分支的一些基本概念、重要术语、重要的语言学家及其相关理论、语言学主要流派等。其基本结构包括两大部分：一是研究语言本体的各个分支，包括语音学、音系学、形态学、句法学、语义学、语用学等；另一部分是语言学与其他学科交叉的一些跨学科研究，包括认知语言学、社会语言学、心理语言学、应用语言学等分支。
课程总成绩由单元测验(20%)、课程讨论(10%)和期末考试(70%)三个部分的成绩组合而成。
学习起点：
英语的听、说、读、写能力达到大学英语四级水平。
