课程概述

This course serves as an introduction to single variable calculus, in which basic theories such as limits, continuity, derivative and integral will be presented, with an emphasis on their applications in business, economics, life sciences and social sciences. It is oriented for freshmen of Business major. And upon competition of this course, they will acquire the knowledge of the basic theory of single variable calculus, have the ability of problem analyzing, solving and application, and most importantly gradually develop the quality of scientific exploration and innovation.

 

The textbook (Excellent International Textbooks in Mathematics)《Calculus for Business, Economics, life Sciences and Social Sciences(Ninth Edition)》by Higher Education Press is adopted. And it will cover the following topics in Calculus: Chap3 The Derivative, Chap4 Graphing and Optimization, Chap5 Additional Derivative Topics, Chap 6 Integration, and Chap7 Additional Integration Topics.


授课目标

 Upon competition of this course, they will acquire the knowledge of the basic theory of single variable calculus, have the ability of problem analyzing, solving and application, and most importantly gradually develop the quality of scientific exploration and innovation.

预备知识

Prerequisites: Pre-Calculus.
