(8) Primary(and mixed) dentition

E: Teaching Methords
    This is a lecture-lab course in which topics are presented by the instructor, practice drawings and carvings are explained. Students will be required to complete tooth drawing and carving assignments for homework


F :GRADING PLAN

Coursework will be weighted as follows:
1. Drawings and carvings  20%
2. Quizzes  30%
3. Final exam  50%

DRAWINGS AND CARVINGS:

Tooth drawing and carving assignments are intended to help students learn the anatomy and morphology of teeth, in preparation for clinical restorative therapy.
In-class lectures will introduce students to detailed tooth anatomy and techniques in drawing and carving. Graded homework assignments will provide students opportunities to demonstrate mastery of this aspect of the course.

 
QUIZZES:
Tooth identification quizzes are intended to measure student ability to identify classes of teeth and demonstrate knowledge of general dental anatomy. These quizzes will be conducted during each laboratory session. There will also be three didactic quizzes on the dates shown on the class schedule.

 FINAL EXAM:
The final exam will be comprehensive. It will be given at the time shown at the end of the schedule that follows.


Absences for which a medical excuse is provided (professional letterhead required) will be recorded but not figured in the attendance grade. Likewise, one absence for which advance notice is given by phone or in person will not be figured in the attendance grade. Any significant late or early departure from class will be figured as a half absence.

Also, anyone who has more than four class-long, unexcused absences will receive an overall mark of 0%, and fail the COURSE.

1. This course consists of 9 chapters and 27 teaching micro-videos. The total video duration is up to 300 minutes.
