课程概述

Zoology is a broad-based fundamental discipline in biology. Its subjects of study include important model animals widely used in life science research, economically significant species crucial to human life, and extend from individual animals to populations and even ecological communities. Therefore, it holds an irreplaceable position in both basic research and practical production fields.

The main content of the course includes the organic structure and function of animal bodies, the diversity and evolution of animal life, animal life activities, related biological principles, and fundamental laws of life activities. The focus is on mastering the main characteristics, progressive features, morphological and physiological traits adapted to the environment, the correspondence between structure and function, as well as representative species of key phyla that mark turning points in animal evolution and development; the evolutionary development of various organ systems in animals; and understanding various life activities of animals and their basic rules using humans as an example.

Through this course, students will gain a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of animals from the perspectives of animal diversity, systematics, evolution, and life activities. They will master the basic theories, fundamental knowledge, cutting-edge developments, and hot topics in animal biology, laying a solid foundation for future study and work practice.

The course is scheduled for a total of 40 class hours, to be completed over 10 weeks.
