课程概述

With the emergence and rapid development of the Internet, huge changes have taken place in the production, dissemination, and acquisition of information. The role of information in economic and social development has become increasingly prominent. People use the term “information society” to describe the picture of today’s society, and information has become the resource that is more important than material and energy. Information economic activities for the purpose of developing and using information resources are expanding rapidly. American predictor Nesbit believes that information is the driving force of today's economy and society. Information and knowledge will play a pivotal role in economic growth. The information society is a society based on the production, consumption and use of information, and the development, use and management of information cannot be separated from the organization of information. The principle and use of information organization, as the basis for organizing and retrieving information, is the core course of related majors in universities such as library science, archives science, publishing and distribution science. Information organization is the premise of using information effectively for both institutions and individuals in the information society.

This course is mainly divided into 10 lectures with 34 knowledge points in 30 sessions. The overall content can be divided into 4 modules: the history and principles of information organization (Lecture 1-3), the general methods and techniques of information organization (Lecture 4-5), and the organization and description of various information resources (Lecture 6) Lecture 9), new tools for information organization (Lecture 10).

授课目标

Through this course, students are expected to: (1) master the basic knowledge, basic theories and basic methods of information organization; (2) improve the ability to develop and retrieve information resources; (3) be able to use the basic theories and methods of information organization to engage in specific information organization, information development and application practices.
