Epidemiology is a discipline studying the distribution and determinants of health-related states or event in populations, and the application of the knowledge to prevent and control health problems.
Students will be able to describe the principles, concepts, and application of epidemiology; understand the way of epidemiologic thinking, methods and implementation steps of epidemiologic research; develop prevention strategies and select disease/epidemic control measures on the basis of epidemiologic investigation; and be familiar with study designs, implementation, data analysis, and interpretation of epidemiologic research.
This course was developed based on the design and improvement of the National Excellent Course epidemiology, which is offered by the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health, Peking University. The teaching team includes Professor Li liming, Professor Hu Yonghua, Professor Zhan Siyan and other colleagues in the department. Students will be familiar with the fundamental principles and methods of epidemiology after successful completion of the course, which will be helpful for future in-depth learning and research.
