本课程坚持以学生发展为中心的理念。课程在充分发挥教师引导作用的同时，十分重视学生在学习过程中的主体地位，注重培养学生自主学习、合作学习和探究学习的能力，促进学生掌握电视新闻的学习方法。本课程在教学过程中将理论与案例相结合，提出特定的研讨主题，要求学生就该主题提前进行学习和研究，将学习成果以专题展示的形式呈现出来。在课堂上组织学生就展示主题展开讨论、交流和互动，使学生形成对该主题较为深入的认识和思考，提高学生分析问题和解决问题的能力。

《电视新闻导论（双语）》旨在丰富学生的理论知识，同时提高学生专业表达的流畅性和准确性，使学生在自己的专业领域内掌握英语术语表达，从而更好地了解国际交流环境并熟悉不同类型的经典国际新闻节目，为学生之后的职业生涯打好基础，同时为培养熟练使用英语、具有全球视野、精通国际传播的国际化复合型人才做好准备。

It explores the core concepts, values and characteristics of TV Journalism on topics like new media, facts, publicity and news professionalism.
